AC Repair in Utah

Air conditioners diagnosed and repaired, with 24/7 emergency service.

Ares Plumbing & HVAC repairs central air conditioners and heat pumps across the Wasatch Front, with 24/7 emergency service. Most no-cooling calls come down to a handful of parts: a failed capacitor or contactor, a dirty coil, a clogged condensate drain or a refrigerant leak. We diagnose it, give you a price, and fix it on the same visit when the part is on the truck.

What is different in Utah

Cottonwood fluff in late spring mats the outdoor coil and is a leading cause of early-summer breakdowns here. Older systems that use R-22 refrigerant are expensive to recharge, which changes the repair-versus-replace math.

AC Repair cost

Typical range: $150–$900 for most repairs. This is an estimate for typical Wasatch Front homes. Your written quote is the actual price. 0% financing options are available, subject to credit approval.

Repair and diagnostic visits start with a $79 service call fee, which is credited toward the repair when you go ahead. Quotes on replacements and installs are free.

Frequently asked questions

What should I check before calling?

Check that the thermostat is set to cool, the air filter is not clogged, and the breaker and outdoor disconnect are on. If there is ice on the unit, turn cooling off and run the fan to thaw it.

Why is my AC freezing up?

Low airflow from a dirty filter or coil, or low refrigerant from a leak. Running it while frozen can damage the compressor.

Should I repair or replace my AC?

Repair makes sense for most systems under about 10 to 12 years old. For older systems, especially R-22 units or ones needing a compressor, replacement is usually the better value.
